2011 Arkansas Cornbread Festival Celebrates

Pure, Simple and Good Food, Music, Community

in downtown Little Rock on Sat., November 5

LITTLE ROCK, AR (Oct. 15, 2011) – What’s more American than baseball and apple pie? That’s cornbread and Main Street, and cornbread connoisseurs far and wide will vote on their favorite trad

itional, nontraditional and sweet varieties at the inaugural 2011 Arkansas Cornbread Festival at 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. between Daisy Gatson Bates and 16th Streets in downtown Little Rock, AR on Sat., Nov. 5, 2011.

Competitors include professionals, who are those making cornbread for a living, and amateurs, who are those who have made cornbread all their lives. Both those attending the festival as well as a celebrity judging panel will determine the best cornbread in the state in traditional, nontraditional and sweet categories as well as the best overall winner. In addition, the best professional winner will receive an invitation to showcase their cornbread at the 2012 New Orleans Road Food Festival. Samples for the 2011 cornbread competition are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Enjoy blues, bluegrass, folk and gospel music while strolling vendor booths for Arkansas goods, learn about nonprofits and their important work in our community, play games and experience South Main for its commitment to heritage during its modern revitalization.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children 6-12 years old and free for children five and under. Pets are allowed.
