HOLIDAY GREEN TEA BELLINI
4 servings
Prep time: 5 minutes

1 bottle 100% Natural Lipton® Iced Tea Green Tea with Citrus, chilled
1 cup sparkling apple cider, chilled
1/2 cup peach nectar, chilled

Combine all ingredients in small pitcher; serve immediately. Garnish, if desired, with fresh raspberries.


Tip: For a more authentic bellini drink, use sweet sparkling white wine instead of sparkling apple cider.

3 tablespoons 100% cranberry juice

Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well and pour into chilled martini glasses.

Tip: For an adult version, use 2 tablespoons vodka and 2 tablespoons orange liqueur instead of orange juice.

DAZZLING CREAMY DESSERT DRINK

Prep time: 5 minutes
Stand time: 10 minutes



2 sprigs mint, large
1 bottle 100% Natural Lipton® Iced Tea with Pomegranate Blueberry
1-1/2 cups light cream or half and half*
3 tablespoons firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh ginger

Crush mint with wooden spoon against side of medium pitcher to bruise. Stir in remaining ingredients. Let stand 10 minutes; remove mint sprigs. Pour into ice-filled glasses and garnish, if desired, with additional mint leaves.

Tip: For a delicious cocktail, stir in 1/2 cup vodka.

*Use fat-free half and half to make this dessert drink lower in saturated fat and calories.

A Capital Christmas

Capital Hotel Spreads Christmas Cheer with Holiday Themed Classes and Events









There will be plenty of rockin’ around the Capital Hotel’s towering 24 foot Christmas tree, and throughout the entire hotel, this holiday season. On Friday, November 25, the larger-than-life tree will arrive from Oregon at the Capital Hotel where it will be trimmed and decorated before the official tree lighting on Monday, November 28, at 6:30 pm.The tree will boast more than 25,000 twinkling lights, illuminating the grand hotel lobby and setting the stage for festive events and activities throughout the season – from Gingerbread House Decorating Classesto a Holiday Teddy Bear Tea, not to mention Gift-Wrapping and festive music performed by Local Choirs and Instrumental Groups.

The holiday cheer begins On November 28 at 5:30 pm when a local flute ensemble will perform prior to the the official lighting of the Capital Hotel Christmas Tree and the unveiling of the 12′ x 4′ Gingerbread Village.

Children of all ages and parents alike will enjoy the Holiday Teddy Bear Tea at the Capital Hotel on Saturday, December 10. The Tea begins at 1:30 pm and includes traditional tea favorites such as Scones and Finger Sandwiches, as well as child friendly options including Hot Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Jelly, and Ham and Cheese Croissants– plus a glass of Sparkling Wine for adults. On Sunday, December 11 at 2pm, leave the kids at home and join Chris Norwood of Tipton-Hurst to get expert Holiday Decorating Tips and ideas during this two-hour immersion in all manner of holiday arrangements during which guests will be able to create an arrangement to take home.

But that’s just one weekend. Throughout the month of December the Capital Hotel is helping to spread good holiday cheer with a series of Ginger Bread House Decorating Classes taught by pastry chef Tandra Watkins, and every Wednesday beginning December 7, guests dining in Ashley’s for lunch can take advantage of “Santa’s Helper”and receive Complimentary Gift Wrapping[up to three packages] while dining. Local School Choirs and Instrumental Groups will also be performing classical Christmas songs throughout December in the lobby.

2011 Arkansas Cornbread Festival Celebrates

Pure, Simple and Good Food, Music, Community

in downtown Little Rock on Sat., November 5

LITTLE ROCK, AR (Oct. 15, 2011) – What’s more American than baseball and apple pie? That’s cornbread and Main Street, and cornbread connoisseurs far and wide will vote on their favorite trad

itional, nontraditional and sweet varieties at the inaugural 2011 Arkansas Cornbread Festival at 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. between Daisy Gatson Bates and 16th Streets in downtown Little Rock, AR on Sat., Nov. 5, 2011.

Competitors include professionals, who are those making cornbread for a living, and amateurs, who are those who have made cornbread all their lives. Both those attending the festival as well as a celebrity judging panel will determine the best cornbread in the state in traditional, nontraditional and sweet categories as well as the best overall winner. In addition, the best professional winner will receive an invitation to showcase their cornbread at the 2012 New Orleans Road Food Festival. Samples for the 2011 cornbread competition are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Enjoy blues, bluegrass, folk and gospel music while strolling vendor booths for Arkansas goods, learn about nonprofits and their important work in our community, play games and experience South Main for its commitment to heritage during its modern revitalization.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children 6-12 years old and free for children five and under. Pets are allowed. You can get coffee by the cup or by the pound at Guillermo's. They roast in-house and provide coffee services for a number of restaurants in town.   Guillermo's has a professional but comfortable atmosphere where you can also grab a bite and conduct small meetings.  If you're a purist... I highly recommend their coffee.

Does your Cornbread Rock? Inaugural Festival Coming this Fall

Calling all professionals and amateurs — for the inaugural Cornbread Festival, November 5th. Prizes will be awarded for the best cornbread in three categories — traditional, sweet and non-traditional Amateurs and professionals will be judged separately.



Best in Show Awarded $500, Prizes



It's happening at  Bernice Garden, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.; corner of Daisy Bates and South Main, Little Rock
The festival will also feature blues, bluegrass and folk bands, children’s activities, nonprofit booths and other vendors.
Professionals pay a $75 entry fee and must provide their own set-up

Amateurs pay a $25  entry fee (Festival will provide table, tent and two chairs)

Both have to provide enough to serve at least a tablespoon sample for up to 800 people as well as a side dish.  Entry Deadline is Friday, September 5, 2011.
